LR Communications Partners with Quad9 to Deliver Enhanced Security, Privacy—and Freedom from Big Tech Surveillance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LR Communications Partners with Quad9 to Deliver Enhanced Security, Privacy—and Freedom from Big Tech Surveillance
Rock Springs, Wyoming – July 8, 2025 – LR Communications, a trusted provider of high-performance internet services, is proud to announce a new partnership with Quad9, a global leader in DNS-based cybersecurity, to bring industry-leading threat protection to all subscribers—automatically and at no additional cost.
Through this partnership, all LR Communications subscribers are now protected by advanced DNS filtering that automatically blocks access to malicious domains associated with malware, phishing, botnets, and other online threats. In addition to security, LR Communications has strengthened its commitment to privacy by routing DNS requests through its own servers before they reach Quad9. This ensures subscriber queries are anonymized, adding an additional layer of protection and reducing exposure of personally identifiable information.
“Internet safety and privacy go hand in hand,” said Lance Laughter, President at LR Communications, Inc. “By integrating Quad9’s threat-blocking capabilities with our own private DNS relays, we’re not only helping our customers stay protected online, but also reaffirming our commitment to keeping their personal data private—and out of the hands of big tech platforms that harvest it for targeted advertising.”
Many major DNS providers, including Google, routinely log DNS queries and use this data to build user profiles, tailor advertising, and feed their broader data collection ecosystems. This type of surveillance helps fund free services but comes at the cost of user privacy. LR Communications and Quad9 take a fundamentally different approach, one that puts user privacy first. By anonymizing DNS traffic and refusing to monetize user data, this partnership reduces the influence of surveillance-driven advertising platforms and gives customers greater control over their digital lives. Key Benefits for LR Communications Subscribers:
  • Automatic Threat Protection: Known malicious domains are blocked in real time—no user configuration required.
  • Enhanced Privacy: DNS requests are relayed through LR Communications’ private servers to mask customer IP addresses before reaching Quad9.
  • No Logging, No Selling: Neither LR Communications nor Quad9 collects or monetizes user data.
  • Break from Big Tech Surveillance: Unlike major DNS providers that use queries for marketing and profiling, LR and Quad9 prioritize user privacy and transparency.
  • Flexible Opt-Out: Subscribers who prefer not to use the filtered DNS service can easily configure their own DNS settings at the device or router level.
A Shared Responsibility for Security
While this DNS-based protection significantly reduces risk from known malicious domains, it does not replace or eliminate the need for customers to maintain their own cybersecurity practices, such as using up-to-date antivirus software, applying security updates, and following safe browsing habits. Quad9 adds a powerful layer of defense, but ultimate security requires a multi-layered approach.
This upgrade is applied automatically across the LR Communications network and reflects the company’s mission to deliver secure, reliable, and privacy-focused internet services to all subscribers.
